hi my sister and brother-in-law who claims to be a preacher,see visions,and who claims god sends him messages,say that speaking in tongues isn't words anyone can understand but the one who's doing it.and only he can tell the people what he was saying.i didn't a gree with him.i trying to show him a scripture i read,about the flames coming over the congrgations head..(i'm not really good yet with finding scriptures on my own)but i know i read it!
he said i don't understand because i'm not in the carnal(being at gods level of understanding..as he is!
) i witness it recently when my brother-in-law was in the icu from a heart attack.his sista was at frist praying,then she started making those crazy sounds...i almost ran out!...it scared the crap out of me!...i don't believe thats from god...can anyone help with scriptures for me to show my family what speaking in tongues really is?...thanks!
When I was very young I attended the Pentecostal Church of God. One of my uncles was the Pastor. I heard of lot of speaking in tongues and saw lots of holy rolling. No one ever had a clue what those speaking in tongues were saying.

My Shriner Great Uncle had a print of George Washington presiding over the Lodge as Grand Master.
Liberal democracy and hostility to authoritarianism were the hallmarks of 18th century Masons.
My Grandfather was a Mason and my Grandmother was Eastern Star. My great Uncle help found the Lodge in Las Vegas, Nevada and was a Shriner.
That is how I know they get together to just drink beer and play cards.
My Grandmothers father was a Mason and a member of the Ku Klux Klan. The Klan is a harmful organization. The Masons are not.
Since I am an Atheist I would never be allowed to join the Masons.

Science is a threat to religion because science deals in provable facts. Religion deals in unprovable beliefs.

Jehovah's Witnesses do not believe that Jesus is equal to God. They say he is more than an angel but less then God. Jehovah's Witnesses say that God had no begining but Jesus did.
My personal opinion is that Jesus was a deluded human being who mistakenly thought he was the Messiah.

Malthus was wrong in the 1800's to say that humanity would run out of food and resources. The book Famine 1975 was equaly wrong for the same reasons.
Malthusian doom sayers forget that new technology and other forms of human creativity change the playing field.
Humanity is dynamic and creative. We are not in a static zero sum game. We will think of something, we always do.
